SNOW - Environment
One of my first tasks at poppermost was to create a set of large scale cliff rocks to cover large areas of the mountain that were inaccessible to the player.
At first I had the modules all covered in a thick layer of snow, as we initially wanted the player to be able to ride on the tops, but this ended up looking incredibly repetitive when the rocks were placed together.
To get around this, I made a few variations with polygonal extrusions on the top, which worked to break up the silhouettes of the modules, and made them blend together far better.
All of the trees have been set up for cryengine's detail bending system, and the bushes have been set up for touch bending (so they move aside when the player skis through).
